Foliar Feeds Corn About 1

My Name is Evan Schaefer. I am a co-owner of EZ Custom Ag Services LLC. My wife and I live on the family farm and love to spend time with our 3 dogs scouting fields. I am a third-generation farmer and wouldn’t have it any other way. I have been on the farm since before I could walk and have an overwhelming passion for agriculture. I have always enjoyed studying products and practice to see how they can affect plant growth and ultimately yield. I was very fortunate that my father and grandfather were open-minded to my ideas. They allowed me to experiment on our farm, finding that some things worked great while others did not need a second year of trial to know that they didn’t belong. When Zach and I made the decision to demo a Hagie sprayer in the summer of 2018 I knew we were in trouble. We had been spraying together on the farm for a few years but once we saw how the crop responded to ground applied fungicide we were hooked. We are both committed to a superior customer experience and going above and beyond to make sure that every grower has a successful year.

Foliar Feeds Corn About 2

My name is Zach Monroe and I’m a co-owner of EZ Custom Ag Services LLC. As well as a die-hard family man with a wife, four kids, and two dogs. I’ve been in and around agriculture all of my life, spending many of my younger years helping on my grandfathers farm up until his retirement. Besides farming I’ve spent some time working in metal fabrication as well as working on a grain bin erection crew, so I’ve never been a stranger to working with my hands in less than comfortable environments. I found employment with Evan and his dad, Tim’s farming operation in 2014 where I was introduced to more sustainable farming practices and high crop management. In 2018 Evan and I knew we could offer products and services more beneficial to our local growers than what they were getting from the larger retailers in the area, so EZ Custom Ag Services was Born from one machine and two ambitions minds. I believe agriculture has been, and always will be, the most honest and important industry where you will find the most dedicated and hardest working folks. So getting to bring something into the industry where we can benefit these great folks and agriculture as a whole is a passion of mine.

The EZ Custom Ag story is no different than many others. Two friends worked together to find a need and solve that problem. It just so happens that the problem was on our home farm and it turns out it wasn’t just us that needed a solution. As we started working with growers it was interesting to hear opinions of how other retailers were making recommendations or pushing certain growers off and not providing service at the right time. We thought about how our experience was at the retail level and said what if we start doing business how we think it should be done? Turns out that caring about customers needs and giving recommendations based on needs not quotas is received very well. We are farmers first and we will make sure it stays that way. If we make a recommendation it is because we believe it will help your farm not our bottom line. As we have expanded into products and not just service we have learned how unique the needs of each farm are. This is why we developed our 8 point assessment for each grower to understand conditions and goals of each operation. Some operations are focused on soil biology while others want to increase the efficiency of the products they are already using.

We have used cover crops on our home farm for a few years now and have seen reduced erosion, better soil structure, and more soil biology. This is why we saw the need in 2020 to purchase an interseeding unit that fits on our high clearance machine to spread cover crops pre harvest. Our machine has drops to deliver seed below the canopy to ensure seed to soil contact. With an airplane much of the seed gets caught in the leaves of your cash crop or is planted on the neighbors field due to low accuracy.  Doing this gives the covers longer days to become established and give you a good mat to harvest on. Having good growth going into the winter months protects soil biology from harsh temperatures but also helps to prevent erosion when rains fall on frozen ground.

New for the 2024 growing season we have partnered with Agrigold and will have both corn and soybean options available. We have used Agrigold for many years and have seen excellent performance out of their lineup on a consistent basis. Not only will we be offering seed we also will have custom seed treating solutions. We will be offering treatments that we have found to be reliable and profitable. Not only will we be using treatments for seed protection we will also be using micronutrient overtreatments and soil biology promotion products.
